Happy Memorial Day, Slow Rollers - we're honored to have as our host for tonight's ride the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park, which is filled with monuments to those who gave all and whose decommissioned ships are open for tours from 10am-5pm. As usual, we'll ride at 6:30pm sharp beginning at the corner of Erie & Marine, lining up along Marine opposite the park, which we highly recommend coming down early to visit - NOTE, no riding bikes through the park, respect pedestrians and stay on foot. Tonight's honorary ride leaders will ride in spirit only - keeping with tradition dating to the Civil War era, on Memorial Day we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may enjoy such freedoms as parading around in a pack of bikes. These leaders number in the millions, including these five Sullivan brothers from Iowa who died together in the Pacific during World War II, leading to the naming of the USS Sullivans ship that operated in the same theater as well as in the Korean War and beyond, and since 1977 has served as a memorial open for tours in our Naval Park.
