Season-Opening Ride

Slow Roll Buffalo, a nonprofit organization with a mission to connect communities by bike whose 2020 season of free and inclusive community bike rides was stunted by the pandemic, will reconnect communities by returning to its full schedule of Monday night rides beginning May 3rd at Big Ditch Brewing Company. Nimble as ever, Slow Roll will continue to adapt to current conditions - while the ride will pick up where it left off last year, requiring masks and splitting into groups with staggered start times as needed to stay well under the limit on public gatherings, the afterparty will return with emphasis on supporting local businesses. As usual, Slow Roll Monday nights will start at 6:30pm on a 10-mile roundtrip ride with two stops to regroup and learn about different parts of Buffalo, guided by Slow Roll’s trained squad of volunteers and accommodating all skill levels. Each ride has a unique route and theme illuminated throughout the week in advance both online and along the route, as Slow Roll SQUAD canvasses the community and street conditions. “Slow Roll is going back to basics,” said Slow Roll Buffalo co-founder and board president Anthony Caferro. “We’ll look a lot like our first [...]

Meet at Big Ditch Brewing Company

By |2021-05-03T13:28:39-04:00May 3rd, 2021|News|0 Comments

This coming Monday, May 3rd, we’ll start a new year of free and inclusive community bike rides with our Season-Opening Ride from one of our favorite host venues, Big Ditch Brewing Company (55 E. Huron St., downtown). We’ve had many rides from Big Ditch going back to their opening in 2015, when the staff called us the “Steam Roll” for essentially training them to handle max capacity. […]

Slow Roll! We've been rolling with the fine folks at Big Ditch since before they even opened to the public, and we're back again this Monday for a really great route full of long stretches of riding both east and west sides. While we're in a tight downtown block, we are a bit spread out for our afterparty. Our Julie's-on-the-Spot Map gives the heads up on where to find what. Squad will be back to serving pizza after the ride - this time in the lot next door, which will also be where to grab a refreshing ice cream or iced tea (as well as lock your bike up). Otherwise Big Ditch has a newly expanded menu for us available inside, along with a variety of their tasty brews, of course. Bert's Bikes SAG and registration will be along E. Huron, with our starting point at E. Huron and Oak. As usual we ask that families with young children riding start up front, and always move back up front at each of our two mass ups. As we lose daylight, it's important to stress the need for quality lights on your bicycle, front and back. There are plenty of cheap [...]

Sycamore & More Tonight!

By |2017-04-11T02:19:04-04:00September 19th, 2016|News|0 Comments

Happy Monday, Slow Rollers!   Tonight we present our Sycamore & More Ride, returning to Big Ditch Brewing Company. Both our ridership and this new downtown gem have expanded since our two visits last year – we now roll more than twice as deep as this sweet shot by Daniel Seiders of us heading out Sycamore! Once again, Big Ditch is staffed up just for us, usually closed on Mondays but today both the kitchen and bar will open at 4pm. […]
