For Week 15 of 26 free and inclusive Monday night community bike rides, Slow Roll Buffalo returns to Delaware Park Buffalo, this time setting up at Parkside Lodge in partnership with the Parkside Community Association & Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy.
Like past rides from Delaware Park, this coming Monday’s 10-mile roundtrip route will surround the stupid Scajaquada Expressway, with a spotlight on the restorative advocacy of the Scajaquada Corridor Coalition & Restore Our Community Coalition to force reconstruction of parkways-turned-highways by the New York State Department of Transportation. Neighborhoods along the ride include Parkside, Hamlin Park, Park Meadow, Central Park and North Park along major streets Parkside, Main, Delavan, Delaware, Colvin, Amherst and Hertel, guided by our trained squad of more than 100 volunteers. Two “mass-up” stops allow for regrouping while community leaders inform riders of history, events and issues in the immediate area, with the African Heritage Food Co-op Kiddie Kickstand crew selling drinks and snacks for one dollar cash.
We’ll return to Parkside Lodge for an afterparty with fellowship, food, drinks and music.
