Happy Monday, Slow Rollers, lovely day for our free and inclusive North Lovejoy Coalition Ride! All of our June Monday rides will begin and end in Buffalo parks starting tonight in Walden Park (101 Bakos Boulevard, 6:30pm sharp start), where the North Lovejoy Coalition of block clubs meets every third Thursday.

Stakeholder Spotlight – North Lovejoy Coalition

The Monday’s 10-mile roundtrip route includes three inclines and stops in Lovejoy and Babcock; neighborhoods on this route include Lovejoy, Schiller Park, Kaisertown, Babcock, Broadway-Fillmore and Emerson along major streets Walden, Bailey, Broadway, Ogden, William, Clinton and Sycamore.

Our presenting partner Independent Health’s RedShirt team will hand out touchscreen bike bags to participants, while supplies last. Their RedShirt team will continue to hold giveaways at Slow Roll every first Monday of the month.

Before and after the ride, check out the Teen Treks table to register participants entering grades 7-9 for a chance to earn a free summer trip and learn more about their trips that give teenagers the chance to discover the excitement and fun of bike touring with a bunch of like-minded people, seeing beautiful natural landscapes and world-class cities while gaining independence and travel skills.

We’ll return to Walden Park for an afterparty with fellowship; food from Maria’s Bene Cibo and Imperial Pizza; drinks from Big Ditch Brewing, Community Beer Works, Chateau Buffalo, Ashker’s and Snowy Owl Kombucha; and music from DJ Papa Trini.

Slow Roll Buffalo urges those who drive to our bicycling event to respect our host neighborhood by avoiding parking on residential streets; the nearest, largest public parking lot to Walden Park is the Thruway Plaza at Walden and Harlem Roads.

All riders be sure to check your ABCs – Air-Brakes-Chain – and see our SAG crew (Support and Gear) for any pre-ride basic maintenance.

See below for the Slow Roll Code of Conduct and a pre-ride checklist, get on your bikes and join us!
