Happy Monday, Slow Rollers, lovely fall day for our free and inclusive Military-Grant Ride!
Tonight we debut at the Ukrainian American Civic Center (205 Military Road, Black Rock, 6pm sharp start), a cool cultural corner that’s been welcoming the community for more than a century.
Host profile – Ukrainian American Civic Center – NOTE: UACC is in Black Rock, NOT the more widely-known Dnipro Ukrainian Center on Genesee Street
Tonight’s 10-mile roundtrip route includes two inclines between neighborhoods Black Rock, Park Meadow, Elmwood Village, Grant-Ferry and Forest along major streets Military, Elmwood, Delaware, Forest, Lafayette, Niagara and Grant, guided by our trained squad of more than 100 volunteers. Two “mass-up” stops allow for regrouping while community leaders inform riders of history, events and issues in the immediate area, before we return to UACC for an afterparty with fellowship, food from Flaming Fish and Sports City Pizza Company, full bar plus Snowy Owl Kombucha and music by DJ Lonnie B.
Community on Wheels – Buffalo Bike Party
For those driving to the ride – please respect our neighbors by avoiding parking on residential streets, instead park only at West Hertel Academy, 489 Hertel Ave, thanks to school principal and Slow Roller Cecelie Owens.
All riders be sure to check your ABCs – Air-Brakes-Chain – and see our SAG crew (Support and Gear) for any pre-ride basic maintenance.
See below for the Slow Roll Code of Conduct and a pre-ride checklist, get on your bikes and join us!
